§ 16-3. Establishment of office of building official.

(a)

Office created. The office of the building official is hereby created and the executive official in charge of enforcing the provisions of this code shall be known as the building official.

(b)

Appointment, removal. The building official shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to the approval of the council. The building official shall serve at the pleasure of mayor, except that the council may, by unanimous vote, remove the building official for cause after full opportunity has been given him/her to be heard on specific charges.

(c)

Acting building official. During temporary absence or disability of the building official, the mayor shall appoint an acting building official, subject to the approval of the council.
