§ 18-20. Gas meters; cost, installation and repairs.

  • (a)

    Gas meters required. All consumers of gas from the town system shall have gas meters installed.

    (b)

    Costs. The town shall furnish all gas meters at the costs of the consumer with ownership to the meter remaining in the town. Cost for gas meter installation shall be five hundred dollars ($500.00) with maximum length of pipe installation of one hundred (100) feet. Any pipe installation in excess of one hundred (100) feet will be charged at the rate of three dollars ($3.00) per foot of pipe.

    (c)

    Installation. All meters shall be installed under the supervision of the town superintendent or his representative. All costs for the installation shall be at the expense of the consumer and paid before final completion of installation. Service to consumers who do not have meters installed shall not be permitted and will be discontinued until such time as meters have been installed.

    (d)

    Second meter. Any second or further meter requested by a consumer shall cost and be charged to the consumer as provided in the above paragraphs. If the meter is larger than a standard residential meter then the cost for furnishing and installation will be presented by the town and approved by the consumer before installation.

    (e)

    Repairs. All repairs due to normal wear and tear to gas meters shall be made by and at the expense of the town. Any repairs due to acts, negligence or fault of the consumer shall be at the expense of the consumer and such repairs shall be subject to the approval of the town.
