§ 2-9. Election dates.

  • (a)

    Commencing with the election of municipal officers (mayor and councilmen) in the year 1990, and every election year thereafter, the municipal elections shall be held on the dates to coincide with congressional elections as provided by Louisiana law.

    (b)

    The officers (mayor and councilmen) elected at the elections held in accordance with the dates of congressional elections shall take office on the first day of January following the election and shall hold their offices for four (4) years.

    (c)

    Pursuant to this section those municipal officers elected at the municipal elections in 1986 (primary election date being April 5, 1986) shall take office effective July 1, 1986, and shall hold their office through and including December 31, 1990.
