§ 13-39. Riding bicycles, motorbikes, motorcycles, skateboards and rollerblading.

  • (a)

    Prohibited on sidewalks. The riding of bicycles, motorbikes or motorcycles upon the sidewalks along any of the streets in the corporate limits is hereby prohibited.

    (b)

    Manner of riding. The riding of more than the driver of a bicycle, motorbike or motorcycle in the corporate limits, unless a seat is provided for a passenger, shall be and is hereby prohibited.

    (c)

    Riding to be single file. Bicycle riders shall ride single file along the streets and/or thoroughfares in the corporate limits of the town, provided that this shall not apply to parades, passing each other or those who will necessarily "line up" for a short distance.

    (d)

    Skateboarding and rollerblading. Any person who engages in skateboarding or rollerblading shall at all times maintain full control of the skateboard or rollerblade as to not in any fashion interfere or cause obstruction to any pedestrians or motor vehicle traffic. Any person who engages in skateboarding or rollerblading shall give way or yield way to any pedestrian or motor vehicle traffic. The use of any skateboard or rollerblade accessories such as ramps, half pipes, quarter pipes, jump boxes, pyramids, hips, handrails, ledges, grindboxes, launch ramps, street spines, bowls, or other similar objects are prohibited and the use of any such objects shall constitute a violation of this section.

    The provisions of this section shall apply to all the town property, public streets and public rights-of-way.
