§ 13-42. Exhaust assisted braking prohibited.

  • (a)

    Definition. A power braking device is a motor vehicle device which produces a power absorbing and retarding effect to assist the slowing or braking of a vehicle (commonly known as "jake brakes") which increases engine noise and sound from the vehicle while in use.

    (b)

    Prohibition. It shall be unlawful to operate or use a powered braking device within the corporate limits of the town.

    (c)

    Exception. The provisions of this section shall not apply to emergency vehicles or equipment.

    (d)

    Penalty. Any person upon conviction shall be subject to a fine and penalty as provided in section 1-8.
